RJC Child Protection Policy

Greetings,

I am pleased to present the RJC’s newly-authored Child Protection Policy. This document represents best practices in an important area of our communal life.

Michael Zelkowitz and his committee, along with our clergy and lay leaders, went through a very thorough and detailed process in order to develop a comprehensive, useable, responsible framework in which all RJC stakeholders will benefit. Our children are our most precious segment of the RJC family, and we are proud of the efforts that have been put forth to create and maintain a stable, safe environment for each child in the RJC orbit.

Thank you to all those that consulted on the content and form of this policy. Thank you as well to those organizations and synagogues who shared their knowledge and experience with us. We very much hope to pay it forward as other synagogues and organizations look to our policy as the new gold standard.

The policy can be found here on the RJC website by clicking on this link. All RJC employees and volunteers are required to read the policy, and we hope that every member will take the time to review it. Feel free to reach out to any member of the child protection committee at anytime with feedback or concerns.

May we know a time of only peace and safety for everyone.

B’vracha,

Marc Spear
President
